Q.Know’s patent-pending technology is based on a highly scalable, secure standards-based infrastructure leveraging the latest Windows .NET® and SQL technologies. Q.Know is built on a flexible three-tier architecture (client, web services and data/file store) that can be easily deployed within an existing computing infrastructure and supported using existing IT staff. Q.Know requires absolutely no change to firewalls, and is totally mail-server independent requiring no changes to any security policy or e-mail system.

The Q.Know application server runs on top of SQL™ Server 2000 Enterprise Edition and is optimized for Microsoft® Windows 2000 servers with IIS, Index Server and .NET Framework. Communication from the Q.Know client to the Web services layer is achieved via compressed XML web services (XML over HTTP). Q.Know compresses all items in their native format on a centralized file store (any standard Windows-addressable file store) and transfers them in their compressed format to ensure fast document retrieval via any connection type. The communication protocol is very low bandwidth and optimized for efficient client-server transmissions even over narrow bandwidth connections, including dial-up.

Q.Know installs quickly with minimal administrative overhead and training so your organization is up and running quickly. Target implementation time for a Q.Know deployment is approximately 6-8 weeks.
